Barnes & Noble Café Tea Menu

Following graduation from university, I continued to work at Barnes & Noble Café until I could find work during the Great Recession. But with a newly conferred degree in design, I assisted my manager in various design jobs. This piece resulted from the need of having no company-supplied answer to a common question: “Do you have a tea menu?”

Tea menu for Barnes & Noble Café, circa 2009

In attempt to save servers from repeating an entire menu, especially during rush periods, I designed a one-page menu that answered the most common questions: What types of tea—hot and iced—did we serve? What did they taste like? And lastly, how much caffeine do they have?

I returned to the store years later to visit my former coworkers. They showed me the sheet, a bit worse for wear, but still very much in use.

My very first professional project.
