2012 North Pole Election Results

On 23 November the North Pole went to the ballot box and re-elected Nicholas Claus of the ruling Elven Workers' Party (EWP) as the Supreme And Natural Temporal Authority (SANTA). The National Elves' Congress was also up for election. In that contest the public kept the EWP with only a slight reduction in its majority. The international community has expressed some concern, however, since the North Pole refused to allow observers to monitor the elections.

Carol Claus (EWP)
The strength of the Elven Workers' Party is centred in the urban and manufacturing areas of the country. Therefore it is not surprising to see high vote shares in the metropolitan areas of Polplaatz and Kolvintersburg. The smaller cities, in particular Rednoss and Dierfoggden, are most striking given the generally weaker position of the EWP in the interior parts of the country.
Perhaps the more distressing results for the regime are found in the victories of the nascent Coalition of All Native Elves (CANE), a bloc of nationalist groups. CANE won two parliamentary seats in the rural areas outside the capital Polplaatz. Further out from the capital, once narrow EWP constituencies fell to the Greens as CANE and other candidates siphoned votes away from the EWP.
