Following graduation from university, I continued to work at Barnes & Noble Cafe until I could find work during the Great Recession. But with a degree in design, I assisted my manager in various design jobs. This piece resulted from the need of having no company-supplied answer to a common question: “Do you have a tea menu?”
In attempt to save servers from repeating an entire menu, especially during rush periods, I designed a one-page menu that answered the most common questions: What types of tea, hot and iced, did we serve? What did they taste like? And lastly, how much caffeine do they have?
I returned to the store years later to visit my former coworkers. They showed me the sheet, a bit worse for wear, but still very much in use.
